Measure Designations Drawn for May 5 All-Mail Election

At 11 a.m. on 02/12, the Elections Office held the random drawing of ballot measure letter assignments for the May 5 election.

There are three measures on the ballot, all relating to school district parcel taxes.  The three schools districts holding an election are the Jefferson Elementary School District, San Carlos School District, and Woodside Elementary School District.

Using Scrabble tiles, our filing officer placed the ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ letters in a basket.  These letters were chosen because last letter designation used in the November election was a ‘Y’.  Because we use consecutive letters, we couldn’t start with ‘Z’ since there are three ballot measures.  This is why we started with ‘A’.

We opted to do the random drawing in alphabetical order.  Jefferson ESD would be drawn first, then the San Carlos SD, and finally the Woodside ESD.  Ironically, the letters drawn (even though they were drawn blindly), were drawn alphabetically as well.  There were five of us that participated in witnessing the random drawing, and a different person drew each letter.

Jefferson Elementary School District – Measure A

San Carlos School District – Measure B

Woodside Elementary School District – Measure C

More information about the above-listed measures will be available on soon.  Friday, 02/13, at 5 p.m. is the filing deadline for primary arguments in favor of and against the measures.  Friday, 02/23, at 5 p.m. is the filing deadline for rebuttal arguments.

We’ve already started creating the Voter Information Pamphlet, and the ballot will be designed shortly as well.  Voting materials will be sent to voters beginning April 6.
